Love Quotes

September 15, 2008 - Monday

love is

imperfection.

i'm in a quote-y kind of mood....

Love is a temporary madness. It erupts like an earthquake and then subsides. And when it subsides you have to make a decision. You have to work out whether your roots have become so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion. That is just being "in love" which any of us can convince ourselves we are.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.
- Captain Corelli's Mandolin6. "Love is the beauty of the soul."
--St. Augustine

"The most wonderful of all things in life is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a growing depth, beauty and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life."
--Sir Hugh Walpole

"Love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person. Love is an act of faith, and whoever is of little faith is also of little love."
--Erich Fromm

"You come to love not by finding the perfect person, but by seeing an imperfect person perfectly."
--Sam Keen

"Love is like a friendship caught on fire: In the beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering. As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable."
--Bruce Lee

Punished For Talent

So like I said, I had blogged on Myspace up until now so I'm slowly transferring them over. The YouTube blog was actually from June 16, 2008, three days after Kuta proposed. This one is from June 20, 2008...

Titled: Punished For Talent

Yes, I'll eventually blog about Kuta's proposal. But I just can't type fast enough yet to get it all down. LoL. But in the meantime, a quick story my cuz, Girly Goo, told me this morning.

Her boyfriend's dad got married this past weekend. It was a small, intimate affair and she offered to take photos of their wedding for them. Now, Girly Goo takes great photos. Pretty much always has. After the wedding, she puts the pictures onto CD and goes to Walgreens to print them out.

Now the next part was both the most silly yet complimenting thing ever.

The photo girl see that its wedding photos Girly is trying to print. She tells her she can't print them out unless she has the photographer's permission because they're copyrighted. Girly informs her she IS the photographer. Photo Girl asks to see her photographer's business license. Girly informs her that she doesn't do it for a living and was doing it as a favor for her family. Photo Girl doesn't believe her and insists she must've somehow stolen the pics and put them on cd to print them out. Girly starts to get pissed (which is rare). They argue for a while and Girly asks for the manager.

The manager looks at the pics and informs her they need the photographer's permission. AGAIN, she tells him SHE is the photographer and no she doesn't have a business license because she does it as a hobby, not for a living. He doesn't believe her. Now they argue. He tells her that these are no way hers because they are professional photographs. She says, "No, I'm just that good."

Way to go Girly!!!!! They relented, grungingly.

Seriously, since when did it become a crime to have talent? There are people out there good at what they do without making a living out of it. Especially if it's a hobby they love. And yes, Girly IS that good at photography. Shoot, our whole family is pretty talented in the art department!

Hey Girly, wanna take our pics? lol!

I've been YouTube'd!

That's right! Our engagement was caught on video and then posted on YouTube by a random Giants fan that was celebrating her birthday. Her attempt to get Lou Seal on video ended up catching Kuta's proposal to me! A few days after he did it, I randomly typed in "giants proposal" for the heck of it and I was surprised to see us on there! She was kind enough to send me a copy. So here it is!
