Trying to catch up

Wow! How fast time flies! I'm at the end of my 35th week! I start my 36th week on Thursday. I'll write more in a little bit about going back up to Oregon for my best friend's wedding, etc. But for now, here's some belly pics to catch up.

What a trip!

It's been a busy few weeks! I was gearing up for my BFF's Bachelorette party in Portland, Oregon this past weekend (June 12). As her matron of honor, I was helping to plan: finding a restaurant, decorations, and games. I'm so thankful for bridesmaid Hallie and her cousins Katie and Jill for helping me out! It's so hard to plan a party from another state but I think it turned out well... at least my BFF said she had a good time so I think that means it came out well! I wish I could've taken her to Mexico or the Caribbean or Vegas but alas, I have yet to find a job or win the lottery. :-(

Since I was already technically in my 7th month, I drove the 10 hours to Corvallis, my first stop. Well okay, hubby's BFF, Steve, drove and I rode shot gun. Everyone said I should ride with someone, just in case. So last minute Steve and his roommate were able to come up to Oregon with me. Yay! I was so worried about having to miss the bachelorette! The entire 2 weeks before, I had been in cleaning frenzy mood, trying to get our room ready for Kali. It hit me that I had 12 weeks till her due date AND that's assuming she actually comes on Sept. 2nd and not earlier. For some reason, I'm thinking she may come earlier so I was extra driven and extra freaked out.

I think I may have pushed myself a little too hard because in the wee hours before we were to leave on our road trip, I had my first big Braxton Hicks. Braxton Hicks are basically practice contractions and that first one was a doozy! It was enough to wake me up and scare me. But I drank water, tried switching positions, and rubbed my belly. It went away and I had a much milder one after that. Then they were gone. Whew! It would've been much to early for Kali to make her appearance!

The trip up was easy going, no traffic, with plenty of potty/stretching breaks. Once I got to Tina's, I had some mild Braxton Hicks while opening my early baby shower gift from her but again, they disappeared. That night was the best sleep I have had in a long time!

The next day was breakfast and her bachelorette in Portland! Fun, fun, fun! Sunday was spent hanging out in Portland until I could get a hold of Steve so we could go. Then it was a loooong drive back. I think Kali was still dancing from the night before and decided my bladder was the perfect dance floor. It was a rougher time back because my legs decided to get crampy too. So we had to stop more often so I could pee and stretch and stretch some more.

I'd never been so happy to be home and just sleep! Ha ha! Now to do it all over again in 2 weeks for the wedding! But this time we will be in Portland a few days longer and I think that will help. Plus I'll have Jon with me! :-)

And YES, before anyone asks, I had asked my NP if the travel would be safe and she said it would be, especially if I had someone in the car with me. So far, I'm low risk and Kali's been on schedule so she saw no reason why I couldn't go. I just needed to keep hydrated with water (which added to the stops LOL!), and get out to walk around/stretch to prevent blood clots. Actually, anyone can get blot clots from sitting for too long but it's more so with pregos because we have baby sitting on nerves, etc. Also, I had brought, besides my medical card, my medical records so if I had to hit the hospital, they'd be up to date on my conditions faster.

So ladies, it IS possible to travel in your third trimester if you get your practitioner's okay and take certain precautions. :-) Go prego power! That was the 1st of Kali's many trips up to Oregon to see her godmommy!

Since being back home, I'm back in room prep mode but taking a much more relaxed approached and asking Jon to help more, instead of trying to do it myself. I don't enjoy getting the Braxton Hicks so I'm doing what I can to kinda minimize it. Ha! Like I can control it! :-) But I can pretend I can anyways! The third trimester slow down is slowly trying to kick in but I'm still determined to get this room done asap so then I can really relax and not have to worry about anything before she comes. But boy, does an afternoon nap sound good right now! ;-)

We've done our Breastfeeding, Newborn Care, and Baby 1st Aid classes and have our labor prep class tomorrow and hospital tour next Wednesday! EEEEIIIII!!!! I can't believe how fast time has flown!

Wedding fun!

My Uncle Jerry got married this past weekend. It was so much fun and I'm so happy for them! :-) Welcome to the fam, Vero! It was great to see family that I haven't seen, well, for about a year! I can't wait until we have our own place so we can have holidays there and hopefully get the family together at least once a year, if not more.

Dancing while prego is very different. There was more jiggle, more rest needed, and less twirling. And I still managed to trip over my own flip flops when I got home! Oh well! Ha ha! Everything is fine. It was a fall onto my knees, so just a couple of sore bruises which made yoga a little harder this week. :-) Kali is still kicking away at me pretty much on schedule. This time, the music didn't seem to make her move as much. I wonder if it's because they didn't have heavy bass going. It's a nice trial run for Tina's bachelorette next month!

We registered for our baby classes! Our first one is next Wednesday: Tips for Breastfeeding. Jon will be coming with me even though he doesn't need to one this one. But we think it's a good idea just so he knows what's going on and why I'm doing whatever it is I'll be doing. I can't believe I'm 14 weeks away! It all seems to be going by so fast! This summer is jam packed with a bachelorette/wedding for my bff in Oregon, 3 baby showers, baby classes, birthdays, and still working on the room. My calendar is usually pretty open but it's slowly filling up!

My unemployment will run out in about a month, month and a half. Hopefully I'll get extended. I don't know who will hire me at this point in my pregnancy but I've started looking to see what's out there. The other thing I'm worried about is how it'll affect my medi-cal coverage. Would it disappear? Sometimes you have to wait a probation period before you're offered benefits at a new job, usually 90 days which would put me at my due date! I'm trying not to stress too much over it and have faith that things will work out how they should.

My First Mother's Day

We celebrated Mother's Day! My first Mother's Day. :-) My in-laws gave me the sweetest card in the morning. It almost brought tears to my eyes! Then when Jon came home, he gave me a rose and a carnation for Kali. Awwww! Then we had dinner reservations at Black Angus, yum! Jon then gave me a Mother's Day card that was sweet and fun too! It played the Charlie Brown song! Hee hee! It was nice to be able to celebrate it even though Kali isn't born yet. But I am already taking care of her by keeping her safe in my tummy, making my appointments, and staying healthy so it makes sense. :-) Now what to do for Jon on Father's Day???

She just keeps on growing! :-) She's still on track, weighing in at 1 pound, 3 ounces. Her legs are measuring a little long right now. Maybe she'll have super model height! LoL! Okay, okay, probably not. It's more likely a growth spurt or maybe she'll be like her daddy and have long legs for her height when she grows up.
